Men’s Hockey Tabs Brian Pinho as Captain for 2017-18

Sept. 25, 2017

PROVIDENCE, R.I.Providence College men’s hockey head coach Nate Leaman announced today (Sept. 25) that senior forward Brian Pinho (North Andover, Mass) will serve as team captain for the 2017-18 season. Pinho will be the 100th member of the program to wear the “C” on his jersey for the Friars.

An alternate captain for Providence last year, Pinho returns to the Friars as the team’s leading scorer from 2016-17 with 40 points on 12 goals and 28 assists. He became just the second Friar to record 40 points in a season since 2002-03 (Mark Jankowski). Pinho’s 28 assists were the most by a Friar since Jon DiSalvatore’s 29 helpers in 2002-03.

The North Andover, Mass. native leads all active Friars in games played (116), goals (27), assists (56), and points (83).

Providence opens the 2017-18 regular season with a two-game series at Miami University from Oct. 6-7. The home-opener at Schneider Arena will take place on Sunday, Oct. 15 against Boston College at 5 p.m.
