Men's Hockey Ranked 15th in USA Today/USAH Preseason Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

The Providence College men’s hockey team enters the 2013-14 season ranked No. 15 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine preseason poll it was announced on Monday (Sept. 23).

The Friars, who join Michigan as the only two teams to land in the preseason top-15 after finishing last year outside of the USA Today’s top-15, are one of five Hockey East teams in the preseason rankings.

In addition to playing the four other ranked Hockey East teams twice, Providence will play two games against Miami and Minnesota State and one game at Quinnipiac for a total of 13 games against teams ranked in the preseason top-15.

The Friars open the 2013-14 season against Minnesota State at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11 at newly renovated Schneider Arena.

About the poll: The USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey.
