PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Grand Reopening of Providence College's Schneider Arena will take place on Friday, September 27.
The Grand Reopening Celebration will take place from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the newly constructed atrium. The celebration will include a ribbon cutting ceremony and a blessing of the building featuring President Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. '80, Athletics Director Bob Driscoll, men's hockey Head Coach Nate Leaman and women's hockey Head Coach Bob Deraney.
All season ticket holders, alumni and fans are invited to the event. Admission is $30 per person (children 12 and under are free).
Members of the men's and women's ice hockey teams will be on hand throughout the evening to give tours of the renovated rink and newly constructed 30,000-square foot addition to the rink.
In addition, Providence College Athletics has teamed up with the Clarke Family - Cortlandt '67, Sara and Becky, husband and daughters of the late Penny Clarke, a longtime Friar hockey supporter - to offer a cocktail reception including a cash bar and heavy appetizers. The evening will also feature a silent auction with proceeds to benefit the men's and women's hockey programs.
An open family skate will also take place following the ribbon cutting ceremony. Donors to this project will be invited to a VIP reception prior to the celebration in the Leary Friends of Friar Hockey Room.
