PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- It was announced last week that Providence College sophomore defenseman Eric Lundberg (Vernon, Conn.) would be one of 47 players attending the U.S. National Junior Team Evaluation Camp to be held on August 1-10 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. Lundberg was added to the roster due to an injury to Bryan Miller of Boston University.

Lundberg, who was drafted in the third around (94th overall selection) by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft on June 23, played in 36 games and recorded nine assists last season for the Friars. Prior to playing at Providence, the 6-foot-3-inch, 200-pound defenseman was a standout defenseman with the New England Coyotes of the EJHL (1999-01). With the Coyotes, Lundberg was a two-time Defenseman of the Year and a two-time EJHL All-Star.

One of Providence's eight incoming freshmen also was selected to participate in the U.S. National Junior Team Evaluation Camp. However, due to NCAA restrictions incoming freshmen are not eligible to be listed in this release.

The 47 athletes attending the Evaluation Camp are prospective players for the 2003 U.S. Junior National Team, which will compete in the 2003 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship on December 26-January 5 in Sydney and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
