Men's Hockey Nets 12 Hockey East All-Academic Selections

PROVIDENCE, R.I.Twelve members of the Providence College men’s hockey program were named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team announced on Thursday (July 12). In total, 144 student-athletes across Hockey East earned All-Academic Team recognition after achieving at least a 3.0 grade-point average in each of the academic periods of the 2017-18 season.

Freshman Gabe Mollot-Hill (Ottawa, Ont.) was named to the 2017-18 Hockey East All-Academic All-Star Team as the goaltender with the highest grade-point average in Hockey East. In addition, Jake Beaton (East Falmouth, Mass.), Kasper Björkqvist (Espoo, Finland), Jacob Bryson (London, Ont.), Alex Cromwell (McKinney, Texas), Vincent Desharnais (Laval, Que.), Garrett Gamez (Chino Hills, Calif.), Hayden Hawkey (Parker, Colo.), Robbie Hennessey (Garnet Valley, Pa.), Brian Pinho (North Andover, Mass.), Vimal Sukumaran (Montreal, Que.), and Spenser Young (Brentwood, N.H.) were named to the 2017-18 Hockey East All-Academic Team.

Cromwell and Hennessey were also designated as Distinguished Scholars for posting at least a 3.0 grade-point average in each semester of four varsity seasons. The 12 All-Academic Friars were the most for the program since the 2010-11 season.
