PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Three players on the Providence College men's hockey team were named to the HOCKEY EAST All-Academic Team on June 20. Junior forwards Jon DiSalvatore (S. Windsor, Conn.) and Devin Rask (Parkside, Sask.) and junior goaltender Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Sask.) all earned academic honors. To qualify for the All-Academic Team, a player must earn a 3.0 grade point average or higher in each of the two academic periods during which his team is actively competing.

DiSalvatore, a management major, completed his third season with the Friars and led the squad in scoring with 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points in 38 games. DiSalvatore also earned team MVP honors and received the HOCKEY EAST Len Ceglarski Sportmanship Award.

Rask finished third on the team in scoring with 16 goals and 19 assists (35 points) in 37 games. Last season, the finance major became the 45th player in Providence hockey history to score his 100th career point. In addition, he tallied his second career hat trick in a 3-3 tie against Maine on February 16, 2002.

Schaefer, an art major at Providence, saw action in 35 games and started 34 in 2001-02. He posted an 11-18-5 record with a 3.29 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. He also posted six games with 40 or more saves, including tying a career high with 44 saves five times.
