CINCINNATI, OHIO -
Providence College ice hockey alumni Nick Mazzolini ‘09 helped lift the Alaska Aces to a 4-0 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones, clinching the East Coast Hockey League’s Kelly Cup.
Mazzolini, team captain, led the team to victory on Monday night by notching his 11th goal and recording his 20th assist of the playoffs to total 31 points. His 31 playoff points, which he totaled in 21 games, is the fifth highest tally in league history. During the playoffs, Mazzolini also led the Aces in plus/minus (+15).
This is the Alaska Aces third ECHL title (2006, 2011).
As a Friar, Mazzolini played 128 games from 2005-09, netting 25 goals and registering 42 assists for 67 points. He was twice named to the All-Hockey East Academic Team.
