Former Providence College men’s hockey standout Jon DiSalvatore ‘03 helped the Houston Aeros reach the AHL Calder Cup Finals on Tuesday, May 24. DiSalvatore scored the game-winning goal with 1:13 remaining in the third period as the Aeros posted a 4-3 victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs in game seven of the Western Conference Finals.
Houston will play the Binghamton Senators in game one of the Calder Cup Finals beginning Friday, May 27, at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Face off is 7:35 p.m.
DiSalvatore, who played in the NHL for the St. Louis Blues in 2005-06, had a strong four-year career at Providence College. DiSalvatore played in 148 games and recorded 59 goals and 83 assists for 142 points, which ranks 18th all-time in PC’s career scoring list. In his final season, he led the team in scoring with a career-high 48 points (19 goals, 29 assists) and finished fourth in the league in overall scoring with 48 points. For his efforts, he earned Hockey East Honorable Mention accolades.
