PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College junior defenseman Matt Taormina (Washington Township, Mich.) was named to the New England Hockey Writers Division I All-Star Team on April 1. Taormina, who totalled 18 points in his first two seasons at PC, finished the 2007-08 campaign ranked second on the team in scoring with a career-high 27 points on nine goals and 18 assists. He was the top scoring defenseman in Hockey East games as he recorded 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists). In addition, he finished tied for second in Hockey East with two short-handed goals and three game-winning tallies. He was named Hockey East Player of the Week twice (11/12, 2/4).
