M. Omicioli Named 2nd Team HOCKEY EAST All-Star
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College senior forward Mike Omicioli of West Warwick, R.I. was named Second Team HOCKEY EAST All-Star on March 18 at the league's annual Awards Banquet in Cambridge, Mass. Omicioli became the first Friar to be named to the league's All-Star team since goaltender Dan Dennis earned the honor in 1996.
Omicioli finished the season tied for the team lead in goals (19) and third on the squad in scoring with 50 points. He recorded 16 multiple-point games in 1998-99. For his career, Omicioli finished 17th all-time in scoring at PC with 138 points (49 goals, 89 assists). He also ranks 13th all-time in assists at PC with 89. In four seasons at Providence, he recorded 35 multiple-point games. Omicioli is the son of Andy and Kathleen Omicioli of West Warwick, R.I. Prior to attending Providence, he attended LaSalle Academy and the Gunnery Prep School. Providence finished its season with a 20-17-1 record and advanced to the HOCKEY EAST Semifinals where the Friars were defeated by New Hampshire, 6-2, on March 19. PC placed fourth in HOCKEY EAST standings with a 12-11-1 mark.
