Peter Fregoe Named To HOCKEY EAST All-Rookie Team
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- It was announced on Thursday, March 17 at the annual HOCKEY EAST banquet that Providence College sophomore left wing Peter Fregoe of Massena, N.Y. was named to the HOCKEY EAST All-Rookie Team. Fregoe became the first Providence player named to the league's All-Rookie Team since Boyd Ballard earned the honor in 1998. Fregoe finished the season third on the team in scoring with 29 points (14 goals, 15 assist) in 34 games. His 29 points marked the most points by a PC rookie since Fernando Pisani recorded 30 points in 1996-97. He recorded eight multiple-point games this season. During the season, he was named HOCKEY EAST Rookie of the Week twice. Fregoe is a 1997 graduate of Valley High School in Des Moines, Iowa. He is the son of Robert Fregoe and Bonnie Price. Fregoe came to Providence after one of the most successful seasons ever in the USHL in 1998-99. Fregoe tallied 103 points last season for the Des Moines Buccaneers. For his efforts he was named USA Hockey's Junior Player of the Year, the USHL Most Valuable Player, the USHL Top Forward and First Team All-USHL.
