The third-seeded Providence College men's hockey team will play the fourth-seeded New Hampshire Wildcats in the Hockey East Semifinals at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass. on Friday, March 21. The Friars will face the Wildcats in the second game of the night with puck drop set for 8:00 p.m.

The other Hockey East Semifinal match-up will be second-seeded UMass Lowell and eighth-seeded Notre Dame. The two will play at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

The ninth-ranked Friars swept sixth-seeded Maine in back-to-back quarterfinal games at Schneider Arena on March 14 and 15. Providence topped Maine 3-1 on Friday (March 14) and 4-2 on Saturday (March 15). Senior Derek Army (North Kingstown, R.I.) scored the game-winning goal in each win over Maine.

Head Coach Nate Leaman has led the Friars to the Hockey East Semifinals for the third consecutive year in his third season at Providence. It marks the first time in program history that the Friars have returned to the Hockey East semifinals in three consecutive seasons.

The Friars will face New Hampshire for the third time in Hockey East Semifinal action, with the Wildcats holding a 2-0 advantage. The first meeting took place in 1992 (L, 5-3), while the second meeting was in 1999 (L, 6-2).

Last season, Providence played host to New Hampshire in a best-of-three quarterfinal series, where the Friars took the series two games to one.
