Ross Mauermann Named To Hockey East All-Rookie Team

    Providence College freshman forward Ross Mauermann (Janesville, Wis.) was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. Mauermann is the first Friar to be named to the All-Rookie Team since 2007 when defenseman Mark Fayne earned the honor. In addition, Mauermann is the first PC forward to be named to the all-rookie team since Colin McDonald in 2004.

    In 27 Hockey East games, Mauermann led the team with 19 points, finished second with 11 assists and eight goals. In addition, he had two short-handed goals and one game winner against then No. 1 Merrimack on December 2. Mauermann, who finished tied for fourth in the league in freshman scoring, was named a Hockey East Weekly Top Performer on six different occasions, and earned one Hockey East Rookie of the Week honor on Monday, March 12.

    Mauermann and the Friars will play No. 1 Boston College at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16 in the Hockey East Semifinals at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass.
