FRIDAY'S GAME... Friday's game will be the Friars' 35th game of the season and 19th home game (10-7-1).

PC IN THE HOCKEY EAST TOURNAMENT... PC holds an all-time mark of 19-18-1 in HOCKEY EAST Tournament games. Tonight, the Friars will play their first HOCKEY EAST Tournament game since BC eliminated the Friars from the Quarterfinals last season on March 13, 1998. PC's last win in the HOCKEY EAST Tournament was a 3-2 victory against Maine in the championship game on March 16, 1996. PC has lost its last four games in the HOCKEY EAST Tournament, losing in Quarterfinals in two games to UMass-Lowell in 1997 and BC in 1998.

PC ALL-TIME IN HOCKEY EAST TOURN. AT SCHNEIDER ARENA... The Friars have posted a 10-4 mark all-time in HOCKEY EAST Tournament games at Schneider Arena. In PC's last HOCKEY EAST Tournament game at Schneider Arena, the Friars defeated Boston College, 4-2, on March 8, 1996 to complete the sweep of the Quarterfinal series. PC's last defeat at Schneider in a HOCKEY EAST Tournament game was a 6-5 loss to UMass-Lowell on March 8, 1997. The loss eliminated the Friars from the Quarterfinals.

PC VS. BU IN THE HOCKEY EAST TOURNAMENT... Since 1984-85, Providence and Boston University have met eight times in the HOCKEY EAST Tournament. PC holds a 5-3 mark against the Terriers in HOCKEY EAST Tournament action, including a 3-0 record in the Quarterfinals. The last time the two teams met in the HOCKEY EAST Tournament, PC defeated BU, 5-4, in the Semifinals on March 15, 1996 at the FleetCenter. PC's last loss to BU in the HOCKEY EAST Tournament was a 3-2 defeat in the Finals on March 18, 1995 at the Boston Garden.

PC VS. BU IN THE HOCKEY EAST TOURN. AT SCHNEIDER ARENA... Providence holds a 1-0 mark against the Terriers at Schneider Arena in HOCKEY EAST Tournament action. In its only HOCKEY EAST Tournament game against the Terriers at Schneider Arena, PC defeated BU, 3-2, in a one-game Quarterfinal series on March 3, 1989.

PROVIDENCE-BOSTON UNIVERSITY ALL-TIME SERIES... Friday's game will be the 115th meeting between the two schools. Boston University leads the all-time series 72-35-7. The two teams first met on February 25, 1927 with Boston University defeating Providence, 12-0, at the Rhode Island Auditorium. The loss to the Terriers was one of seven defeats the Friars suffered in their first season of collegiate competition (1-7-0). The Friars' last win against the Terriers was a 6-3 victory at Schneider Arena on Feb. 13, 1999. PC's last loss to Boston University was a 3-2 defeat on Feb. 21, 1998 at Brown Arena.

PC VS. BU ALL-TIME AT SCHNEIDER ARENA... The Friars have posted 16-18-3 record against BU at Schneider Arena. In PC's last game against BU at Schneider Arena, the Friars defeated the Terriers, 6-3, on Feb. 13, 1999. PC's last loss to the Terriers at Schneider Arena was a 5-1 defeat on Feb. 20, 1998.

THIS SEASON VS. BOSTON UNIVERSITY... The Friars have posted a 3-0 mark against Boston University this season. On Oct. 30, the Friars defeated Boston University, 5-4, at Schneider Arena. Senior Mike Omicioli led the Friar offense with two goals and one assist. Junior Jason Ialongo, junior Doug Sheppard and senior Jon Coe also scored for the Friars. Sophomore goaltender Boyd Ballard recorded 26 saves in the win. The following night, PC defeated the Terriers, 6-4, at Walter Brown Arena. Junior Jerry Keefe recorded his first career hat trick and added two assists to pace the offense. Junior Fernando Pisani netted two goals and junior Nick Lent added one goal for the Friars. Ballard registered 29 stops in net. On Feb. 13, PC earned its third win of the season against the Terriers with a 6-3 victory at Schneider Arena. Sheppard and Mike Omicioli led the offense with two goals each. Lent and senior Troy Lake also scored for the Friars. Ballard made 25 saves in the win.

FRIAR FIRST WITH THREE WINS AGAINST BU... On Feb. 13, PC defeated BU 6-3 to earn its third win of the season against the Terriers. It marked the first time in 48 seasons of Providence College hockey that the Friars earned three-regular season victories against the Terriers in one season. It also marked the first time PC has won three games in one season against the Terriers since 1989 when the Friars won two regular season games and a HOCKEY EAST Tournament game against BU.

HOCKEY EAST COACHES' POLL... For the third consecutive season, the Friars were picked to finish fifth by the league's nine head coaches in their preseason balloting. With PC's 5-5 tie against BC on Feb. 23, the Friars clinched fourth place for the third time in the last four years.

FRIARS POST 0-1 MARK LAST WEEK... Providence College posted a 0-1 mark last week. On March 7, PC was defeated, 6-5, in overtime by Northeastern at Boston, Mass. PC overcame a two-goal deficit in the final 34 seconds of the game, but NU scored with 1:00 remaining in overtime to earn the win. The Friar goals were scored by senior Jon Cameron, sophomore Jay Leach, sophomore Heath Gordon, senior Mike Omicioli and senior Troy Lake. Sophomore goaltender Boyd Ballard made 23 saves in the loss.

HEAD COACH PAUL POOLEY... Is the 10th coach in the history of Providence College hockey. Since 1994, Pooley has compiled a 83-85-14 record and brought the Friars to two HOCKEY EAST Finals and one NCAA Tournament appearance. In 1994-95, Pooley became the first head coach to bring a team to the HOCKEY EAST Championship Game in his inaugural season behind the bench. In 1995-96, he guided the Friars to their second HOCKEY EAST title and first since 1985. Pooley also led the team to its eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The 38-year-old head coach came to PC after spending three years as an assistant coach at Lake Superior State (1991-94). He began coaching at his alma mater, Ohio State, where he served as an assistant to Jerry Welsh from 1988-91.

OMICIOLI MOVES TO 19TH ALL-TIME AT PC... Senior Mike Omicioli recorded one goal and one assist in PC's 6-5 overtime loss to Northeastern on March 7 and moved into 19th spot all-time in scoring at Providence College with 134 points (47 goals, 87 assists) in 131 games. He also ranks 15th all-time in assists at PC with 87. Omicioli is tied for the team lead in goals (17) and is third in points (46) this season. His two points against Northeastern on March 7 was his the 34th multiple-point game of his career and his 15th multiple-point game this season. His three-point effort against BU on Feb. 13 was the 15th time in his career that he recorded three or more points in a game. His two-goal effort against BU on Feb. 13 also marked the seventh multiple-goal game of his career. In his career he has registered two or more assists in a game 19 times and three or more assists in a game eight times.

TOUGH AGAINST THE TERRIERS... Senior Mike Omicioli has had a productive career against the BU Terriers. In the Friars' 6-3 win against BU on Feb. 13, Omicioli earned the game's No. 1 star after tallying two goals, including the game winner, and adding one assist. In PC's three wins against Boston University this season, he has registered 10 points (four goals, six assists). In his 12 career games against Boston University, the native of W. Warwick has registered 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists). One of his top games against BU came during his freshman season when he led the Friars to a 5-4 win against the Terriers in the HOCKEY EAST Semifinals at the FleetCenter on March 15, 1996. In that game, Omicioli led the Friars with two goals and one assist to earn the game's No. 1 star.

PISANI SECOND ON TEAM IN SCORING... Junior left wing Fernando Pisani is second on the team in scoring (48 points) and first in assists (35). Pisani added two assists in PC's 6-5 overtime loss to Northeastern on March 7. Pisani's two-point effort against NU was his 29th career multiple-point game and his 15th multiple-point game this season. He has recorded three or more points in a game 12 times in his career and has registered four or more points in a game four times in his career. With two assists against UMass-Lowell on Feb. 5, Pisani surpassed the 100-point plateau in his career. Pisani became the first player to reach 100 or more points in his junior season since All-American Chad Quenneville accomplished the feat in 1995. A 1996 eighth-round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers, Pisani ranks 32nd all-time in scoring at PC with 112 points (41 goals, 71 assists) in 105 career games.

KEEFE LEADS TEAM IN SCORING... Junior center Jerry Keefe injured his ankle in PC's 5-5 tie against Boston College on Feb. 23 and has missed the last three games. Keefe has tallied three or more points in seven games this season, including two five-point games. He leads the team in points (49 points) and assists (34). In 83 career games, Keefe has registered 86 points (29 goals, 57 assists). His four assists against Merrimack on Feb. 19 marked the 21st multiple-point game of his career and his 15th this season.

40-POINT FRIARS... Junior Jerry Keefe (15-34-49), junior Fernando Pisani (13-35-48) and senior Mike Omicioli (17-29-46) have all registered 40 or more points this season for the Friars. It marks the first time since the 1991-92 season that PC has had three players record 40 or more points in a season.

IALONGO BOMBS ON THE POWER PLAY... Junior defenseman Jason Ialongo is tied for the team lead in power-play tallies with eight. Twice this season Ialongo has tallied two power-play goals in a game. Eight of Ialongo's 11 goals this season have been scored in man-advantage situations. In 33 games this season, the Cranston, R.I. native has registered a career high 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists).

LAKE SCORES FOR FRIARS... Senior center Troy Lake scored one goal in PC's 6-5 overtime loss to Northeastern on March 7 at Matthews Arena. Lake is tied for the team lead in goals (17) and power-play goals (eight). He netted two power-play goals in PC's 5-5 tie against Boston College on Feb. 23. For Lake it was his third multiple-goal game this season. His two-point effort against Boston College was his eighth multiple-point game this season. He is fifth on the team in scoring with a career high 28 points (17 goals, 11 assists). He has recorded 66 points (35 goals, 31 assists) in 124 career games.

MacNEVIN PRODUCES ON OFFENSE... Junior defenseman Josh MacNevin, who notched one goal in PC's 3-1 loss to UMass-Amherst on Feb. 27, is fourth on the team in scoring with 31 points (five goals, 26 assists). MacNevin's two-assist effort against BC on Feb. 23 was the 13th multiple-point game of his career and his eighth this season. In PC's 3-2 win against Brown on Jan. 12 in the Mayor's Cup, MacNevin assisted on all three Friar goals. His three assist-effort against Brown marked the third time in his career he recorded three assists in a game. A 1996 fourth-round draft pick of the New Jersey Devils, MacNevin has 64 points (15 goals, 49 assists) in 95 career games.

FARRELL STEPS UP ON OFFENSE... Sophomore defenseman Mike Farrell has recorded five points in the last four games. On Feb. 23, Farrell registered three points (one goal, two assists) in PC's 5-5 tie against Boston College. On Feb. 26, the sophomore defenseman notched the game-winning goal in the Friars' 3-2 victory against UMass-Amherst. The following night, he assisted on PC's only goal in a 3-1 loss at UMass-Amherst. A 1998 eighth-round draft pick of the Washington Capitals, Farrell has registered three goals and 10 assists in 25 games this season.

BALLARD BETWEEN THE POSTS... Sophomore goaltender Boyd Ballard made 23 stops in PC's 6-5 overtime loss to Northeastern on March 7. Ballard recorded a season-high 36 saves while earning his first shutout of the season and becoming the first goalie to hold the Eagles scoreless in 1998-99 in PC's 3-0 shutout at sixth-ranked Boston College on Jan. 22. Ballard made a number of key saves in the game, including one on Mike Mottau's short-handed shot in the second period which was featured as CNN's "Play of the Day." The shutout at BC was the second of Ballard's collegiate career. For his efforts in the shutout against BC, Ballard earned HOCKEY EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors. Last season, Ballard earned HOCKEY EAST All-Rookie Team honors. In 24 games this season, Ballard has posted a 12-10-1 mark, a 3.59 goals against average and an .881 save percentage.

INJURY REPORT... PC has two players who could miss Friday's game with injuries. PC's leading scorer Jerry Keefe (15-34-49) injured his ankle in the Friars' 5-5 tie against Boston College on Feb. 23 and is listed as day-to-day. Keefe has missed the last three games. Left wing Drew Omicioli (7-8-15) injured his shoulder against UMass-Amherst on Feb. 26 and is listed as day to day. He has missed the last two games.

OFFENSIVE FRIARS... The Providence College offense has been very productive this season. The Friars enter Friday's game against Boston University averaging 4.15 goals per game. PC has scored five or more goals in 17 of its 34 games this season.
