PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (17-13, 11-9) HOCKEY NOTES:

FRIARS DEFEAT MERRIMACK IN OVERTIME... In its only game of the week, Providence College defeated Merrimack, 4-3, in overtime on Feb. 19 at Schneider Arena. Senior Jon Cameron (Langley, British Columbia) scored 30 seconds into overtime to give PC the win. Junior defenseman Jason Ialongo (Cranston, R.I.) led the Friar offense with two power-play goals. PC's other goal was scored by junior Josh MacNevin (W. Lethbridge, Alberta). Sophomore goaltender Boyd Ballard (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) recorded 28 saves in the win.

PISANI ASSISTS AGAINST MERRIMACK... Junior left wing Fernando Pisani (Edmonton, Alberta) assisted on all four Friar goals in PC's 4-3 overtime win against Merrimack on Feb. 19. He has recorded three or more points in a game 12 times in his career and has registered four or more points in a game four times in his career. Pisani's four-assist effort against Merrimack was his 27th career multiple-point game and his 13th multiple-point game this season. With two assists against UMass-Lowell on Feb. 5, Pisani surpassed the 100-point plateau in his career. Pisani became the first player to reach 100 or more points in his junior season since All-American Chad Quenneville accomplished the feat in 1995. A 1996 eighth-round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers, Pisani ranks 33rd all-time in scoring at PC with 108 points (40 goals, 68 assists) in 101 career games. In 30 games this season, he is second on the team in scoring with 12 goals and 32 assists.

IALONGO BOMBS ON THE POWER PLAY... Junior defenseman Jason Ialongo (Cranston, R.I.) notched two power-play goals in PC's 4-3 overtime win against Merrimack on Feb. 19. It marked the second time this season, Ialongo has tallied two power-play goals in a game. He leads the team in power-play tallies with eight. Eight of Ialongo's 11 goals this season have been scored in man-advantage situations. In 29 games this season, the Cranston, R.I. native has registered a career high 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists).

KEEFE LEADS TEAM IN SCORING... Junior center Jerry Keefe (Billerica, Mass.) assisted on all four PC goals in the Friars' 4-3 overtime win against Merrimack on Feb. 19. Keefe has tallied three or more points in seven games this season, including two five-point games. He leads the team in points (49 points) and assists (34). In 82 career games, Keefe has registered 86 points (29 goals, 57 assists). His four assists against Merrimack on Feb. 19 marked the 21st multiple-point game of his career and his 15th this season.

NEXT GAMES... PC will play three games next week. On Tuesday, Feb. 23, PC will host nationally ranked Boston College at Schneider Arena. On Friday, Feb. 26, the Friars will play UMass-Amherst at Schneider Arena in the team's final home game of the regular season. The following night, PC will travel to UMass-Amherst.

THE PROVIDENCE-BOSTON COLLEGE SERIES... Tuesday's game will be the 120th meeting between the two schools. Boston College leads the all-time series 76-37-6. The two teams first met on Dec. 1, 1953 with Boston College defeating Providence, 8-5, at the Rhode Island Auditorium. In the most recent meeting between the two teams, BC defeated Providence, 5-2, on Jan. 23 at Schneider Arena. The Friars' last win against the Eagles was a 3-0 shutout on Jan. 22, 1999 at Conte Forum

AT SCHNEIDER ARENA... The Friars have posted a 17-16-3 record against BC at Schneider Arena. In PC's last game against BC at Schneider Arena, BC defeated the Friars, 5-2, on Jan. 22, 1999. PC's last win against the Eagles at Schneider Arena was a 4-2 victory on Feb. 7, 1997.

THIS SEASON AGAINST BC... The Friars have posted a 1-1 mark this season against Boston College. The Friars posted their first shutout of the season with a 3-0 win against BC on Jan. 22 at Chestnut Hill, Mass. The win gave the Friars their first victory at Boston College since Feb. 9, 1996. Freshman Drew Omicioli tallied the game winner for the Friars at 4:11 of the third period. Senior Troy Lake and junior Doug Sheppard also scored for PC. Sophomore Boyd Ballard made a season-high 36 saves while earning his first shutout of the season and becoming the first goalie to hold the Eagles scoreless in 1998-99. On Jan. 23, BC defeated the Friars 5-2 in front of a sellout crowd of 3,030 spectators at Schneider Arena. Junior Fernando Pisani and junior Josh MacNevin each scored for PC. Senior goaltender Mark Kane made 28 stops in the loss.

THE PROVIDENCE/UMASS-AMHERST SERIES... Friday's game will be the 21st meeting between the two schools. Providence leads the all-time series 15-4-1. The two teams first met on Feb. 27, 1954 with Providence defeating UMass, 15-5, at the Rhode Island Auditorium. The Friars' last win against the Minutemen was an 8-1 victory on Jan. 15, 1999 at Schneider Arena. PC's last loss to UMass-Amherst was a 3-1 defeat on Jan. 31, 1998 at the Mullins Center.

AT SCHNEIDER ARENA... The Friars have recorded an 9-2 mark against UMass-Amherst at Schneider Arena. PC's last win against the Minutemen at Schneider Arena was an 8-1 victory on Jan. 15, 1999. The Friars' last loss to UMass at Schneider Arena was a 5-3 defeat on Dec. 6, 1996.

AT THE MULLINS CENTER... The Friars have posted a 3-2-1 record against UMass-Amherst at the Mullins Center. PC's last win against the Minutemen at the Mullins Center was a 5-3 victory on Nov. 21, 1997. In the Friars' last loss at the Mullins Center, UMass defeated the Friars 3-1 on Jan. 30, 1998.

THIS SEASON AGAINST UMASS-AMHERST... The Friars have recorded a 1-0 mark against UMass-Amherst this season. On Jan. 15, PC used its largest offensive output of the season to defeat UMass-Amherst, 8-1, at Schneider Arena. Senior Troy Lake and senior Mike Omicioli led the Friar offense with two goals each. Junior Jerry Keefe, junior Josh MacNevin, junior Nick Lent and sophomore Matt Libby also scored for the Friars. Senior goaltender Mark Kane recorded 22 stops in net for PC.
