MEN'S HOCKEY VS. NEW HAMPSHIRE

UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE (19-4-5*) - New Hampshire is attempting to win its second consecutive HOCKEY EAST regular season title. The Wildcats enter the weekend tied with Boston University for first place ... On Friday, New Hampshire will play at Northeastern ... UNH is currently ranked No. 2 in the country ... Last weekend, UNH tied Merrimack (2-2) and defeated Maine (1-0) ... The Wildcats have posted a 50-42-10 mark all-time against the Friars. This season, New Hampshire has won the first two meetings between the two teams, including a 2-1 victory at Schneider Arena ... Sophomore forward Darren Haydar (Milton, Ontario) leads the team in scoring (32 points) and goals (18). Junior goaltender Ty Conklin (Anchorage, Alaska) is one of the top netminders in the country. This season, he has posted an 18-3-5 record, a .911 save percentage and a 2.42 goals against average.

PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (14-13-1*) - The Friars are still battling to try and secure a spot in the HOCKEY EAST Playoffs ... The Friars enter the weekend with six of their final eight games against ranked teams, including Friday's game at No. 5 Boston College ... Last week, the Friars posted a 2-0 mark with victories against Northeastern (3-1) and Merrimack (4-3) ... PC has registered 21-12-6 mark all-time against the Wildcats at Schneider Arena ... On Monday, junior goaltender Boyd Ballard (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) was named HOCKEY EAST Player of the Week and sophomore forward Peter Fregoe earned league Rookie of the Week accolades. Ballard earned two wins last weekend and has posted an 8-8 mark, a 2.68 goals against average and a .911 save percentage this season. Last week, Fregoe scored two goals, including the game winner in overtime in PC's 4-3 win at Merrimack. The sophomore forward leads all HOCKEY EAST Rookies in overall scoring with 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) in 27 games.
