Men's Hockey To Host Northeastern On Friday At 7:00 PM
MEN'S HOCKEY VS. NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY Friday, February 4 - 7:00 p.m. at PC's Schneider Arena NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY (11-8-5) - Northeastern enters Friday's game with the Friars tied for third in HOCKEY EAST and ranked 14th in the country ... In the Huskies' only game last week, they skated to a 4-4 tie at Merrimack ... Friday's game will be the 107th meeting between the Friars and the Huskies ... The Huskies have posted a 15-18-3 mark all-time at Schneider Arena ... Northeastern has recorded a 2-6-4 mark in road games this season ... Junior Graig Mischler (Holbrook, N.Y.) and sophomore Willie Levesque (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) are tied for the team lead in scoring with six goals and 11 assists each. Freshman goaltender Mike Gilhooly (Calgary, Alberta) should start in goal for the Huskies. Gilhooly has played in 17 of the team's 24 games this season, posting a 7-4-3 record, a 2.83 goals against average and a .899 save percentage.
PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (12-13-1) - The Friars need a victory on Friday to remain in contention for a spot in the HOCKEY EAST Playoffs ... Last week, the Friars posted a 0-2 mark with losses to UMass-Amherst (4-3) and UMass-Lowell (7-2) ... This season, PC has recorded a 2-0 mark against Northeastern, including a 4-1 win at Schneider Arena. The Friars are the only team to earn a win at NU's Matthews Arena this season ... PC has registered 64-35-7 mark all-time against the Huskies ... Senior Doug Sheppard (Georgetown, Ontario) leads the team in scoring (31 points), goals (13), assists (18) and power-play goals (10). Sheppard is two points away from becoming the 44th player in the history of PC hockey to record 100 or more points. Freshman Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) has been the team's top goaltender this season. Schaefer has a 6-5-1 mark, a 3.02 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.
