Men's Hockey To Face Boston College For Two Games, Jan. 22-23
BOSTON COLLEGE (13-6-1) - Saturday's game will be the 121st meeting between the Friars and the Eagles ... Boston College leads the all-time series between the two teams, 76-37-7 ... The Eagles enter the weekend series with the Friars ranked No. 9 in the country ... BC won the first meeting ever between the Friars and the Eagles, 8-5, at the Rhode Island Auditorium on December 1, 1953 ... Last weekend, Boston College defeated UMass-Lowell (6-2) and Yale (3-1) ... Senior forward Jeff Farkas (Williamsville, N.Y.) leads the team in scoring (35 points) and goals (16). Junior goaltender Scott Clemmensen (Urbandale, Iowa) and freshman netminder Tim Kelleher (Belmont, Mass.) have split the time in net this season. In 11 games, Clemmensen has posted a 2.59 goals against average and an .889 save percentage. Kelleher has recorded a 1.87 goals against average and a .923 save percentage in 10 games. PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (11-10-1) - The Friars enter Saturday's game looking to improve on their 3-7 mark in HOCKEY EAST action ... On Tuesday, PC was defeated by Brown, 4-2, in the 14th Annual Mayor's Cup game ... The Friars have posted a 6-3 record at home this season ... The Friars have recorded a 17-16-4 record against Boston College at Schneider Arena. Last season, the Friars registered a 1-1-1 mark against the Eagles, including a 0-1-1 record at Schneider Arena. PC's last win against the Eagles at Schneider Arena was a 4-2 victory on February 7, 1997. The Friars' last loss to BC at Schneider Arena was a 5-2 defeat on January 23, 1999 ... Senior Doug Sheppard (Georgetown, Ontario), who netted two power-play goals against Brown on Tuesday, leads the team in scoring (28 points), goals (13), assists (15) and power-play goals (10). Freshman Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) and junior Boyd Ballard (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) have shared the goaltending duties this season.
