TALKING POINTS
- Providence extended its unbeaten streak to a season-high six games (5-0-1) after a 2-2 tie at Boston University last Saturday.
- Hayden Hawkey stopped 31-of-33 shots against the Terriers and was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season in the process.
- Hawkey is 5-0-1 with a 1.01 GAA and .950 save percentage in six games since the holiday break. In 14 Hockey East games, Hawkey has posted a 1.95 GAA and .928 save percentage.
- The Friars killed off five-minute major with just over six minutes to play in regulation at BU, surrendering just one shot on goal. Providence also killed off a penalty in overtime.
- The Friars have surrendered just six goals in six games in the second half of the season, out-scoring opponents by a 24-6 margin over that span.
- Brandon Duhaime, Brian Pinho, and Greg Printz all saw their point streaks come to an end on Saturday.
- Defenseman Vincent Desharnais now has four-assists over his last three games and currently rides a career-long three-game point streak (0-4-4).
- Kasper Björkqvist and Brian Pinho each notched their 10th goals of the season during last weekend’s road trip through Boston. Björkqvist’s career-long point streak was extended to five games with an assist on Saturday at Boston University (4-2-6).
- Providence has surrendered a league-low 2.07 goals per game in Hockey East contests.
- Currently 10th in both national polls, the Friars rank ninth in the current PairWise rankings.

SERIES NOTES - UCONN
- Providence and UConn kick-off their two-game season series on Thursday at the XL Center in Hartford.
- All-time, the Friars 2-0-1 at the XL Center and have won five-consecutive games in the series.
- Providence has out-scored the Huskies by a 25-7 margin over the five-game winning streak.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- UConn enters Thursday night’s game on a four-game losing streak, including a 3-0 setback at Merrimack last Friday night.
- The Huskies are led by San Jose prospect Max Letunov and his 20 points on six goals and 14 assists. Senior Johnny Austin ranks second on the team in scoring with 17 points (3-14-17).
- In goal, Adam Huska has started 23-of-25 games for UConn this season in posting a 2.52 GAA and .914 save percentage.
- Head Coach Mike Cavanaugh, in his fifth season at the helm of the Huskies, has posted a 59-85-25 record.

Providence’s games against RIT (Dec. 9) and UConn (Jan. 20) will be aired live on NBC Sports Boston.

BRYSON, DESHARNAIS EARN THE “A”
Sophomore defenseman and recent Buffalo Sabres draft pick Jacob Bryson will now don the “A” on his sweater going forward for the Friars. Junior Vincent Desharnais, a 2016 draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers, will also wear an “A” on his jersey going forward.

EVERYONE CHIPPING IN
Twenty players have recorded at least one point in the first 24 games this season for the Friars.

A PK RUN
Overall this season, Providence has killed off 97-of-110 opposing power play opportunities this year (.882), which is good for fifth nationally this year.

THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
The Friars are 121-11-12 all-time under Nate Leaman when scoring three or more goals in a game.

PINHO HITS THE CENTURY MARK
Senior Brian Pinho notched points No. 100 and 101 on Wednesday (Jan. 3) against Brown to become the 52nd Friar to reach the century mark.

AFTER 40
The Friars are 116-5-9 all-time under Nate Leaman when holding a lead after two periods.
