Northeastern Edges Providence
BOSTON, Mass. -- Providence College was defeated by Northeastern, 3-2, on Tuesday, Nov. 25 in HOCKEY EAST action a NU's Matthews Arena. The loss ended the Friars' six-game winning streak.
Northeastern took a 1-0 lead on the only goal of the first period as sophomore Billy Newson wristed a low shot past PC freshman goaltender Boyd Ballard at the 15:50 mark.
The Huskies extended their lead in the second period to 3-0 on two goals by sophomore Todd Barclay. Barclay struck first on the power play at 4:56 and two minutes later he streaked down the left side and blasted in a slap shot from 25 feet.
