Providence Falls to Northeastern
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Northeastern University ended a nine-game unbeaten streak against Providence College with a 2-0 victory in HOCKEY EAST action on Friday, October 24 at PC's Schneider Arena.
Northeastern tallied the only goal of the first period and what proved to be the game winner when senior Scott Campbell lifted a high shot into the top of the net past PC junior netminder Mark Kane at the 10:38 mark.
After playing scoreless for the second period and most of the third, junior David Dupont added an empty net goal with 30 seconds remaining in the game to seal the win for the Huskies
Sophomore goaltender Marc Robitaille played strong in net for Northeastern recording 26 saves and earning the shutout. Kane registered 27 stops for the Friars.
Northeastern raised its record to 2-0, 1-0 in HOCKEY EAST, while Providence fell to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in league action.
Providence College will return to action and host Union College on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7:00 p.m.
