The Providence College men's hockey team defeated the University of Toronto, 8-0, on Saturday, October 17 in an exhibition game at PC's Schneider Arena.

PC, which held a 13-2 shot advantage in the opening stanza, tallied the only goal of the first period when Jerry Keefe fed a pass to Mike Omicioli who one timed a shot high into the net to finish off a two-on-one breakaway at 18:38 of the first.

The Friar offense came to life in the second period as five different players scored for the Friars. Jon Cameron started the scoring in the second period as he broke in and beat Toronto netminder Rocco Marinaccio at 4:14. PC's other goals in the period were scored by Jerry Keefe at 14:15, Jason Ialongo at 16:03, Mike Farrell at 17:24 and Nick Lent at 18:15.

PC added two more goals in the third by Mike Omicioli at :26 and Mark Suderman at 14:03 to seal the 8-0 victory.

Sophomore Boyd Ballard and senior Mark Kane combined to record seven stops for PC. Marinaccio made 37 stops for Toronto.

Providence College will begin its regular-season schedule against CCHA foe Miami University on Friday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena. The following night, PC will host Lake Superior State at 7:00 p.m.
