PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's hockey team defeated Queen's University, 8-0, on Saturday, October 9 in an exhibition game at PC's Schneider Arena. Senior Fernando Pisani led the Friar offense with three goals.

PC, which held an 18-6 shot advantage in the opening stanza, got goals from Pisani (two) and senior Doug Sheppard, before Scott Richardson netted Queen's first goal to cut the Friar lead to 3-1.

Pisani opened the scoring in the second period to complete the hat trick at 15:45. The Friars tallied three more goals in the period to earn a 7-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

David Gallo netted a quick goal for the Gaels at :33 of the third for Queen's final tally of the game. PC senior Josh MacNevin roofed a shot from the top of the crease for his second goal of the game and the final score of the contest at 10:15 of the third period.

Junior Boyd Ballard and sophomore Jamie Vanek combined to record 15 stops for PC. Jason Skilnick made 35 saves for Queen's.

Providence College will begin its regular-season schedule against CCHA foe Notre Dame on Friday, October 15 at 6:05 p.m. EST at the Ice Breaker Tournament in Denver, Colo.
