BOSTON, Mass. -- Chris Lynch scored with 1:00 remaining in overtime to give Northeastern a 6-5 win over Providence College in HOCKEY EAST action on Sunday, March 7 in Boston, Mass.

Northeastern took a 1-0 lead when Billy Newson backhanded a shot past PC netminder Boyd Ballard at 6:14 of the first period. The Friars evened the game at 1-1 with a two-on-one break away that Jon Cameron finished off by one timing a shot past NU goaltender Jason Braun at 9:32 of the first period. PC wasted little time taking the lead as Jay Leach took a slap shot from the right point that trickled through Braun's pads at 10:36 of the first.

Northeastern's Ryan Zoller tied the game at 2-2 with wrist shot from the right point that found its way through a screen and beat Ballard over his right shoulder at 6:33 of the second. The Huskies regained the lead as Graig Mischler intercepted a pass at PC's blue line and fired a shot at the PC net that deflected off a PC defenseman into the goal at the 17:47 mark of the second period.

PC took advantage of a power-play opportunity to tie the game at 8:30 of the third period when Heath Gordon poked in a rebound from the left side of the crease to even the game at 3-3. The back and forth pace continued as NU's Willie Levesque skated down the left side and wristed in low shot inside the far post to give the Huskies a 4-3 lead at 14:56 of the third. Northeastern appeared to seal the win with a goal by Roger Holeczy at 17:28 of the third period. However, the frantic pace continued in the final minute as Mike Omicioli slid a low shot past Braun at 19:34 of the third to bring the Friars within one goal. With six seconds remaining in the game Troy Lake lifted a rebound high into the net to even the game at 5-5.

Northeastern earned the win when Lynch pushed in a rebound with 1:00 remaining in overtime
