Box Score

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Freshman Jordan Kremyr (Cloverdale, B.C.) scored twice to lead the Providence College men's hockey team to a 3-2 victory over No. 8 Boston College Friday night at Conte Forum. It marked PC's second victory at Conte Forum this season as they improved to 14-13-4 overall and 11-9-4 in Hockey East. The Eagles fell to 16-10-7 overall and 10-8-6 in league action.

The Friars jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead as freshman Jordan Kremyr (Cloverdale, B.C.) scored twice. Kremyr opened the scoring at 8:41 when he skated from behind the BC net and fired a wrist shot that was saved by goalie John Muse. However, the rebound bounced right back to Kremyr who tucked the puck into the net for his second goal of the season. Kremyr struck again at 18:46 when he rifled a high wrist shot from the bottom of the left circle over Muse's left shoulder.

The Friars had a chance to add to their lead in the second period when John Mori (Westport, Conn.) was awarded a penalty shot after being hooked from behind on a breakaway attempt. However, Muse was able to save Mori's back-handed effort. It marked the first penalty shot that the Friars attempted since December 21, 1991. The Eagles pulled to within 2-1 at 16:20, capitalizing on the power play. Andrew Orpik pounced on a rebound in front and tallied his fifth goal of the season. The Friars responded at 17:29 when sophomore John Cavanagh (Warwick, R.I.) stole the puck in the BC zone before firing a shot that was saved, but freshman Ian O'Connor (Londonderry, N.H.) took advantage of the rebound and lifted a back-hander into the net for his fourth goal of the season. The Eagles notched their second power-play goal of the night to pull to within 3-2 at 15:18 of the third when Ben Smith was able to tip in a shot from the point, but the Friar defense held on for the win.

PC goalie Tyler Sims (Fort Wayne, Ind.) finished with 35 saves, while Muse stopped 21 shots.

The two teams will complete the home-and-home series on Saturday, March 1 at Schneider Arena.
