He is the first Friar to earn All-America honors since Stephen Wood was named to the Second Team in 2003-04 and the third Friar goalie to be named an All-American, joining Chris Terreri (First Team 1985 & Second Team in 1986) and Nolan Schaefer (Second Team in 2001) ... Gillies went 17-12-6 on the year and posted a Friar record five shutouts ... His five shutouts tied for the third-most in the country ... Highlighting Gillies' record-setting five shutouts were 44 saves in a 2-0 win against the University of Massachusetts (1/ 12), 37 saves in a similar showing a month later against then fifth-ranked UNH (2/13), and 31 in a critical 3-0 road win at UMass-Lowell (3/8) on the final weekend of the regular season ... His five shutouts were two more than the previous single season record at Providence and he ranks tied for second on the Friars' career shutouts list ... Made a season-high 48 saves at UML (1/17), which ranks as the seventh-most saves in a game by a Friar goaltender ... Missed three games while capturing the gold medal with Team USA at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia ...
