PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Providence College Athletic Department would like to thank groups that have helped kick off the men’s basketball and men’s ice hockey seasons. Some groups also got an opportunity to participate in on-court and on-ice experiences.
To kick off men’s basketball games at the Dunkin Donuts, the Woonsocket Wolverines of Special Olympics Rhode Island played at halftime of the Saturday, Nov. 3 game versus Rhode Island College. The following weekend at the regular season home opener on Saturday, Nov. 10 against NJIT, Holy Name School of Fall River scrimmaged at halftime. Holy Name School also played on Dave Gavitt court following the Friars game. At the Bryant game on Monday, Nov. 12, the Providence College Sports Marketing Group organized a fundraiser for the Tomorrow Fund, a non-profit group that supports families with children with cancer. As part of the night, children from The Tomorrow Fund played a short game at halftime. At the Friday, Nov. 23 game versus Fairfield, St. Mary’s School of Cranston challenged St. Phillips School at a halftime game. The Mount Saint Charles Academy Dance Team ended our November games with a halftime performance at the Tuesday, Nov. 27 Holy Cross game.
At the men’s ice hockey home opener on Friday, Oct. 12, the Edgewood Mites B Brown team welcomed the Friars in action and stood with the team during the playing of the National Anthem. Recently at the Friday, Nov. 16 game, Edgewood Mites B Orange scrimmaged Warwick Junior Mites prior to the Friars’ game. Also, the South Shore Kings welcomed the team to the ice and stood with them during the playing of the National Anthem.
Opportunities still remain for future game dates for unique on-court or on-ice experiences for teams including halftimes, pre-game court or ice time, as well as post-game time. Groups receive a discount from individual game prices. To inquire about future games or general group outing details, please call the Providence College Ticket Office at 401-865-GOPC (4326) to speak with a group sales representative.
