Ben Bentil, Paschal Chukwu and Jalen Lindsey Each Sign A NLI For Men's Basketball

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College men's basketball Head Coach Ed Cooley announced on November 13, 2013 that student-athletes Ben Bentil (Middletown, Del.), Paschal Chukwu (Westport, Conn.) and Jalen Lindsey (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), each have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College beginning in September 2014. These three players make up one of the top recruiting classes in the nation. CBSSports.com (247sports.com) rated Cooley's recruiting class as the 16th best in the nation, while Scout.com has the class ranked 18th, Rivals.com has it ranked 19th and ESPN.com ranked the class as the 20th best in the country.

Bentil, a 6-foot-8-inch, 225-pound combo forward attends the Saint Andrew's School in Middletown, Del. and plays for Head Coach Terrell Myers. He is ranked as the No. 83 top recruit in the nation, according to Scout.com and No. 92 by CBSSports.com (247sports.com). CBSSports.com (247sports.com) has him ranked No. 18 by position, while Scout.com ranks Bentil as the 19th best combo forward in the country. ESPN.com ranks him as the No. 26 combo forward and No. 1 recruit in Delaware. As a junior, he earned First Team All-State honors after averaging 16 points and 12 rebounds per game. Bentil played for the WE-R 1 AAU team under Coach Myers.

Chukwu, a 7-foot-2-inch, 235-pound center attends Fairfield Prep in Fairfield, Conn. and plays for Head Coach Leo Redgate. He is ranked as the No. 6 center in the class of 2014, according to ESPN.com. He also has been ranked as the No. 8 center in his class by Scout.com and CBSSports.com (247sports.com). ESPN.com has Chukwu rated as the No. 56 player overall, while Rivals.com has him ranked No. 60 overall. Scout.com ranked him at No. 63 and CBSSports.com (247sports.com) has him at No. 70. Last season, he led Fairfield Prep to a 24-3 mark. Chukwu also helped the team reach the Connecticut State Championship game where he recorded 12 points and 16 rebounds against Hillhouse. Chukwu earned First Team All-State honors after his junior season. He concluded his junior season, averaging 13.7 points, 12.1 rebounds and 6.8 blocks per game. He played for the Connecticut Basketball Club AAU program under Head Coach Dan Donnelly.

 

 

Lindsey, a 6-foot-7-inch, 185-pound guard/wing attends Huntington Prep in Huntington, W.Va. and plays for Head Coach Rob Fulford. He is ranked as 67th best recruit in the nation by CBSSports.com (247sports.com). Rivals.com ranks Lindsey No. 68, ESPN.com rated him as the 73rd ranked recruit and Scout.com has him rated No. 82 in the nation. Lindsey also is ranked as the No. 15 wing player by CBSSports.com (247sports.com) and No. 18 by ESPN.com. As a sophomore, he averaged 19.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game and helped lead Christ Presbyterian Academy to a 37-2 mark and a Class AA state title. He helped Christ Presbyterian and Head Coach Drew Maddux repeat as state champions in 2013 as the team again posted a 37-2 mark and won the Class AA title. Last season, Lindsey averaged 21 points and seven rebounds per game. For his efforts, Lindsey was named "Mr. Basketball" for the State of Tennessee. He played AAU basketball for the Southern Stampede.

"Ben, Paschal and Jalen will provide depth, length and athleticism to our team," Cooley said. "We feel that these three nationally ranked players will help us to continue to build our program towards achieving our ultimate goal."
