PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College men's basketball coach Keno Davis announced on November 13 that student-athletes Kadeem Batts (Powder Springs, Ga.), Duke Mondy (Grand Rapids, Mich.), James Still (Detroit, Mich.) and Kyle Wright (Hartford, Conn.) each have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College beginning in September 2009. Batts, a 6-foot-8-inch, 230-pound forward attends John McEachern High School. He helped lead McEachern to a 22-8 mark in 2008. Batts, who grew up in Massachusetts, attended Lincoln-Sudbury High School for two years, prior to moving to Georgia in 2007. He is a strong rebounder who excels on the defensive end of the floor. Mondy, a 6-foot-3-inch, 190-pound guard attends Catholic Central High School. He helped his team register an 18-6 mark last season and win the district title. As a junior, Mondy averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists per game. He is an excellent athlete who can shoot the ball and play several different positions. Still, a 6-foot-9-inch, 210-pound center attends Detroit Community High School. As a junior, he averaged 14.0 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. Still played for the Michigan Hurricanes AAU team. He is a strong defender who can alter shots and runs the floor well. Wright, a 6-foot-6-inch, 215-pound guard/forward attends Monroe Junior College in the Bronx, N.Y. Wright attended Stony Brook in 2006-07 and transferred to the University of Colorado, but due to NCAA regulations had to sit out the 2007-08 season. Wright was named MVP of the 2008 Hartford Pro-Am Summer League. He attended high school at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H. where he was a teammate of current Friar guard Weyinmi Efejuku. As a senior at Brewster, Wright averaged 13 points, six rebounds and three assists per game.
"We are very pleased to be able to add four high-caliber student-athletes to our program," Davis said. "We believe that they will be great representatives of Providence College by succeeding on the basketball court and in the classroom."
