Men’s Basketball Holds Annual Mal Brown Scrimmage

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The afternoon began with the annual men’s and women’s basketball season ticket holders’ appreciation dinner and concluded with the Mal Brown Scrimmage in Providence College’s Alumni Hall on Saturday, Oct. 21. More than 1,500 fans ate on Slavin Lawn from 2-3:30 p.m. and then filed in Alumni Hall for the men’s team’s intra-squad scrimmage.

In the scrimmage, sophomore Alpha Diallo (New York, N.Y.) led all scorers with 21 points on 9-15 shooting from the field. Diallo paced the black team, which earned a 59-51 victory over the white team. Sophomore Kalif Young (Vaughan, Ontario) had a game-high eight rebounds for the black team. He also scored 13 points on a 5-5 performance from the field. Senior Kyron Cartwright (Compton, Ontario) scored 12 points and had seven assists for the black team

The white team was led by sophomore Maliek White (Hampton, Va.). White had 15 points and was 4-8 from behind the three-point arc. Junior Isaiah Jackson (Gainesville, Fla) and freshmen Nate Watson (Arlington, Va.) and Makai Ashton-Langford each had 12 points for the white team.

The Friars will return action on Wednesday, Oct. 25 when they play UConn in an exhibition game at Monhegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.
