PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College men's basketball Head Coach Keno Davis named Michael Mennenga coordinator of player development and video operations on Thursday, September 17. He replaces Josh Sash who left to take an assistant coaching position at Temple College in Temple, Texas.

"I'm excited to have Mike Mennenga on our staff," Keno Davis said. "He has extensive experience working in college basketball and I expect that he will help improve our basketball program."

Mennenga joins Keno Davis' staff after spending the last two years as a basketball coach at Nichols Prep School in Buffalo, N.Y. At Nichols, he helped lead the Vikings to a 48-6 record and back-to-back New York State-Monsignor Martin Championships.

Prior to coaching at Nichols, Mennenga served as an assistant coach at Iowa State University from 2005-06. His primary duties included implementing the Cyclones' offensive system, developing the school's international recruiting network and developing the team's academic mentoring program. Mennenga's efforts helped Iowa State lead the Big 12 in scoring offense and achieve its highest team GPA in five seasons.

Mennenga also has worked as the assistant basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at the University at Buffalo from 2000-05. He helped lead the Bulls to their best season in school history in 2004-05, as the team tallied a school-record 24 victories and earned the first postseason berth in school history with an NIT appearance. Mennenga's recruiting classes from 2003-05 were each ranked first in the Mid-American Conference by Rivals.com.

He began his Division I coaching career as an assistant at the University of Maine from 1996-2000. While at Maine, the Black Bears set school records in wins, attendance and All-Conference selections. In Mennenga's final season at Maine in 1999-00, the Black Bears posted a 24-7 record.

In addition to his coaching duties, Mennenga also has worked as a scout and basketball analyst for ESPN Scouts, Inc. and a coach at the Nike Super Sophs, All-American and JC Prep camps. He earned an associate's degree in finance from Vincennes University in 1990 and a bachelor's degree in finance from Morehead State University in 1993, where he was a member of the men's basketball team.

A native of Rantoul, Ill., Mennenga resides in North Providence, R.I. He has a wife, Shanetta, and two daughters, Cheyenne (5) and Nyla (3).
