Men's Basketball Schedule Announced
Sept. 14, 2006 PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars announced their 2006-07 men's basketball schedule on Thursday, September 14. The Friars will play 16 BIG EAST Conference games and 13 non-conference contests this season. PC's home league schedule is highlighted by BIG EAST games versus Villanova on January 23, Cincinnati on February 6 and Syracuse on February 24. In home non-conference action, the Friars' schedule will feature games versus ACC rival Boston College on November 22 and Atlantic 10 opponents George Washington on November 26 and Rhode Island on December 2. The Friars also will play two tough non-conference games away from Providence when they face defending NCAA Champion Florida in Gainesville, Fla., on December 6 and ACC foe Florida State in Tampa, Fla., on December 29. It was also announced that PC's games at Pittsburgh on February 10, at Notre Dame on February 15 and at home versus Syracuse on February 24 will be televised nationally on ESPN. The Friars will open their regular season with a home game versus Fairleigh Dickinson on November 14. The Friars also will play Brown (November 18), Boston College, George Washington, Columbia (November 28), Rhode Island and Fairfield (December 4) at home before travelling to play at Florida. Providence will return home for three games versus Maine (December 9), Holy Cross (December 19) and Harvard (December 22). The Friars will play Florida State in Tampa and then conclude their non-conference schedule with a home game versus Longwood on January 2. The Friars will play their first two BIG EAST games of the season on January 4 and 6 versus Marquette and Seton Hall at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. PC's other BIG EAST home games are against Rutgers (January 20), Villanova, Cincinnati, St. John's (February 17), West Virginia (February 20) and Syracuse. PC will play its BIG EAST road opener at Louisville on January 13. The Friars also will travel to Seton Hall (January 17), Connecticut (January 27), Marquette (February 3), Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, South Florida (February 28) and St. John's (March 4).
In addition to the regular-season schedule, the Friars will have two home preseason games at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Providence will host the University of New Haven on November 2 and the EA Sports All-Stars on November 7. Tickets for all home games can be purchased Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the PC Ticket Office in Alumni Hall or by calling (401) 865-GO PC. Game times for all Friar contests will be released at a later date.
