Day One Tuesday, August 12 into Wednesday, August 13

After a four-hour drive to New Jersey, the team had a solid practice in Seton Hall University's auxiliary gym. Excitement and anticipation were high as the Friars headed to Newark International Airport for a 6:30 pm flight to Milan, Italy. Boarding for flight United Airlines Flight 19 began promptly at 5:40 pm. After the plane was fully boarded, aircraft software updates caused the plane to remain at the gate for two hours before take off. Once in the air, dinner was served, movies were watched and everyone slept as much as they could comfortably manage. Arriving in Milan the travel party met with their Italian guides and boarded buses once again for the drive to the NH President Hotel in Milan. Once checked into their rooms, the rain made it easy for some to catch up on some much needed sleep, while others hit the town to see the Duomo di Milano, the cathedral church of Milan. Dedicated to the Santa Maria Nascente, the Duomo took nearly six centuries to complete and is the fifth largest cathedral in the world. Gucci, gelato, Prada and pizza surround the Piazza del Duomo for those who prefer modern day indulgences!
