PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College announced its 16-game BIG EAST men's basketball home-and away-opponent schedule on Thursday, July 7. The Friars will play three teams twice and 10 teams once.

Providence will play DePaul, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh at home and on the road in 2005-06. For the second consecutive season, the Friars will host New England rival Connecticut at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The Friars also will host BIG EAST newcomer Louisville, which is coached by former Friar Head Coach Rick Pitino. Other league home games will be against St. John's, Seton Hall and South Florida.

In addition to playing at DePaul, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh, the Friars also will travel to Cincinnati, Georgetown, Marquette, Rutgers and West Virginia.

Providence will not play Syracuse or Villanova during the regular season.

Dates and times for all the Friar men's basketball games will be released in the fall.

Fans interested in purchasing men's basketball season tickets can visit the Providence College Ticket Office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall or call (401) 865-GO PC.
