PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College senior guard Donnie McGrath (Katonah, N.Y.) is currently playing on a NIT All-Star Team that is touring England and Ireland. The team, which is made up of players from Division I institutions, was selected based on recommendations from coaches and league commissioners.

Through the first three games, the NIT All-Stars have posted a 3-0 record. The NIT All-Stars opened competition on June 24 versus the Reading Rockets in England. The All-Stars earned a 98-78 win. McGrath registered six points on two three pointers. He also recorded two rebounds and four assists. The All-Stars' second game was a 113-57 win over the England University Games Team on June 25. McGrath was 5-8 from the field (12 points), including a 2-4 performance from three-point territory. He also added a team-high 15 assists. In the squad's most recent game, the All-Stars earned another win over the England University Games Team in a 106-56 victory on June 26. McGrath was 3-9 from field as he chipped in eight points. He also added seven assists.

The NIT All-Stars return to action tonight in the final game in England as they play the Reading Rockets. The All-Stars will travel to Ireland for three games on June 30-July 2. On June 30, the All-Stars will play the Irish Under-20 National Team in Dublin. On July 1-2, the All-Stars will play two games against the Belgium Under-20 National Team in Limerick.

McGrath, who will enter his senior year at Providence in September, averaged 9.7 points and 3.8 assists per game in 2004-05 for the Friars. The 6-foot-4-inch, 190-pound guard has started 90 of the 91 games during his three seasons as a Friar.

McGrath, the son of Tom and Eileen McGrath, attended John F. Kennedy Catholic High School prior to Providence College.
