PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- It was announced on Wednesday, June 12 that the Providence College men's basketball team will play four cross-divisional BIG EAST games in 2002-03. The Friars, who compete in the BIG EAST East Division, will play home games against BIG EAST West Division foes Notre Dame and Seton Hall and road games against BIG EAST West Division opponents Georgetown and Pittsburgh. Providence will play one home game and one road game against BIG EAST East Division foes Boston College, Connecticut, Miami, St. John's, Villanova and Virginia Tech. Each BIG EAST team will play 16 conference games.

For Friar fans, it will mark their first opportunity to see PC play Notre Dame and Seton Hall in the Dunkin' Donuts Center since the 1998-99 season. Notre Dame has not played in Providence since December 8, 1998, while Seton Hall's most recent trip to the Dunkin' Donuts Center was January 2, 1999.

The 2000-01 season was the first year that the league implemented two divisions (East and West) with crossover opponents for men's basketball.
