Basketball Student-Athlete Brice Kofane Signs A National Letter Of Intent

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College men's basketball coach Keno Davis announced on April 27 that student-athlete Brice Kofane (Yaounde, Cameroon) signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College beginning in September 2010.

Kofane, a 6-foot-8-inch, 205-pound forward attends The Miller School in Charlottesville, Va. Kofane helped lead The Miller School, which is coached by Scott Willard, to a 15-7 mark in 2009-10. The Mavericks were defeated in the VIC Semifinals by Blue Ridge on March 5. Kofane averaged 12.1 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game in 2009-10. He recorded 10 double-doubles, including a season best 22-point, 13-rebound-effort versus Roanoke Catholic on February 25. Kofane played AAU basketball for Head Coach Jim Hart's Albany City Rocks team. Last summer, he helped the City Rocks squad capture the AAU Showcase in Orlando, Fla. Kofane is a strong defender who has a knack for blocking shots and creating opportunities around the basket.

"We are pleased to have Brice joining our team," Davis said. "He is a high-energy player who has tremendous potential. Brice is a well-rounded student-athlete who has excelled in the classroom and on the court."

Kofane joins Gerard Coleman (West Roxbury, Mass.), Ron Giplaye (Lowell, Mass.) and Joe Young (Houston, Texas) as newcomers to the Friar roster who will attend Providence College beginning in September 2010. Each of these student-athletes has signed an NLI to attend Providence College.
