Providence College forward Geoff McDermott (New Rochelle, N.Y.) was named to the Rivals.com All-Defensive Second Team on Tuesday, March 27. Earlier this month, McDermott earned All-BIG EAST Honorable mention accolades.

McDermott is one of the most dynamic players in the BIG EAST. The sophomore forward was third in the league in assists (5.38 apg), ranked fourth in rebounding (9.3 rpg) and fifth in steals (1.9 spg). McDermott recorded 10 double-doubles this season, including the first triple-double at PC since 1999 when he registered 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists versus Harvard on December 22. He can became the first Friar ever to register more than 150 assists and more than 250 rebounds in the same season.
