Weyinmi Efejuku Named USBWA All-District 1

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- It was announced on March 10 that Providence College senior guard Weyinmi Efejuku (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) earned USBWA All-District I honors. It marks the first time that Efejuku earned USBWA All-District 1 accolades. It is the second honor he earned recently as he was named All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention on March 8.

    Efejuku is leading the Friars in scoring this season, averaging 15.7 ppg. In BIG EAST action, he averaged 16.4 ppg in 18 contests. He shot an impressive 41.4 percent (24-58) from behind the three-point line in league play. He scored a game-high 23 points in the Friars' win over DePaul on March 11 at the BIG EAST Tournament Second Round. It marked his seventh game this season with 20 or more points and the 23rd time he has accomplished that in his career. Efejuku has scored at least 23 points in four of this last six games.

    Efejuku ranks 12th all-time in scoring at Providence with 1,484 points in 119 games. He is one of five members of the current Friar squad to register 1,000 points in his career.
