Men's Basketball Fourth Quarter Rally Too Late Against Auburn, 80-69

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Mark McGadney scored five of his 12 points during a decisive 42-second span as Auburn beat Providence 80-69 for third place in the Energia Systems Thanksgiving Tournament Sunday. Auburn (4-2) shot 46 percent from the field and had three other players in double figures. Scott Pohlman had 19 points, Marquis Daniels had 17 points and Lincoln Glass had 15. Providence led 38-35 at halftime, but that dwindled to 63-62 with six minutes left in the game. McGadney scored on a driving shot with 5:31 remaining to expand the Tigers' lead to 65-62. He scored on another drive 42 seconds later and hit a free throw after Marcus Douthit was called for a technical. Douthit, who had four points, fouled out on the play. Glass connected on two shots to make it 70-62 with 4:49 left in the game. After that, the Friars (2-3) never got closer than six points. Providence shot 40 percent from the field and had three players in double figures with Romauld Augustin and Maris Laksa with 15 each and Erron Maxey with 14 points. Jamison Brewer scored seven points and had 16 rebounds for the Tigers,
including 13 on the defensive end.
