Feb. 11, 2012
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's basketball team (13-13, 2-11 BIG EAST) fell to the South Florida Bulls (15-10, 8-4 BIG EAST) by the score of 55-48, on Saturday, February 11, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The game marks the second time the two teams have met this season. Last time, the Friars fell to the Bulls 81-78, in Tampa, Fla.
Only one Friar scored in double digits as junior guard Vincent Council (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 16 points in the game. The Bulls held Providence's second leading scorer, sophomore Bryce Cotton (Tucson, Ariz.), to six points. Overall the Friars shot 30.8 percent from the field, 8.3 percent from behind the arc and 78.9 percent from the free throw line.
For USF, Victor Rudd Jr. led the way with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jawanza Poland added nine points and Augustus Gilchrist chipped in with eight.
In the second half, with the Bulls holding what would be their largest lead of seven points, 30-23, with 15:46 on the clock, the Friars went on a 10-2 run to gain the lead 33-32. With the game tied at 37 points apiece, South Florida ended the game with an 18-11 run to notch the victory, 55-48.

The game marks the second time this season the Friars have scored less than 50 points. In Providence's loss to Georgetown on December 31, 2011, the Friars were held to 40 points.
The Friars are back in action when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on the Bearcats on Wednesday, February 15 at 9:00 p.m. The game will air live on ESPNU.
