PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's basketball team (12-3, 2-0) won its 10th straight home game by defeating Seton Hall (9-5, 1-1) 91-69 on Jan. 6 at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

The win over the Pirates marked the first time since 2003 that the Friars have begun BIG EAST play with a mark of 2-0.

Senior Herbert Hill (Kinston, N.C.) and sophomore Weyinmi Efejuki (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) fueled the Friar attack as the two combined for 49 points. Hill's 25 points was a game-high. The last time two Friars scored over 20 points was in PC's 101-92 win over Harvard.

PC surpassed the 90-point barrier for the sixth time this season. The Friars are 6-0 against their opponents when scoring 90 points or more.

PC held Seton Hall without a basket in the first four minutes and 35 seconds en route to taking a 12-0 lead over the Pirates. During the stretch, Efejuku had five points including a 3-pointer from the corner to open the scoring.

Seton Hall responded to the Friars early charge as it went on a 19-5 run to take a 19-5 advantage. The Friars would go on to respond with a spurt of their own as they reeled off a 16-6 run to re-claim the lead at 34-28. PC would not trail for the rest of the game.

The Friars took a 38-32 lead into the locker room at half time. Hill led PC in scoring with 11 points at intermission.

PC maintained a comfortable lead throughout the first eight minutes of the second half. The Friars largest lead came with 54 seconds to go in the game when PC led by 24 points to cruise to its 12th win of the season.

Prior to the game the Friars' honored their former Head Coach Dave Gavitt as the court at the Dunkin' Donuts Center was named "Dave Gavitt Court." During halftime, the festivities continued as PC hung a banner in the rafters honoring Gavitt and his mentor former Friar Head Coach Joe Mullaney.

The Friars will look to improve to 3-0 in BIG EAST play on Jan. 13 as they face off against Louisville at Noon in Freedom Hall.
