Men's Basketball Falls To Fordham, 71-67

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Bevon Robin scored 23 points and Alejandro Olivares had 18 to lead Fordham past Providence 71-67 on Sunday.

Karim Shabazz scored 24 points and blocked five shots for the Friars (7-6), whose three-game winning streak was snapped. Aaron Maxey scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half.

Teremun Johnson added 11 points for the Rams (7-5), who lost the lead only once, when a 12-4 run midway through the second half put the Friars ahead, 49-48. Maxey had eight points in the run.

The Rams regained the lead with a 9-0 run in the next two minutes, led by 6 points by Olivares.

The Friars trailed with 1:08 left and resorted to fouling the Rams in an attempt to come back. Providence's Chris Rogers cut the lead to 69-67 with 14 seconds left on an inside basket.

But with 10 seconds left, Fordham's Johnson got loose for a dunk to clinch the game.

Fordham outrebounded Providence, 35-20. Duke Freeman-McKamey and John Pugh led the Rams with eight apiece. Shabazz led the Friars with eight.

The Rams lead the all-time series, 4-1.
