    PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

    Providence College Head Swimming and Diving Coach John O’Neill was recognized the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 by the Rhode Island Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals at its annual breakfast held at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston, R.I. Nominated for the Partner and Philanthropy Award by Women’s and Infant’s Hospital, Coach O’Neill was recognized for his work over the past four years with the Rhode Island Board of Swim Across America. The Rhode Island Swim, held in September each year, has become the one of the fastest growing in the country, with some 500 swimmers attending this year’s event, which raised over $160,000.00 for cancer research at the Oncology Center at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence. Coach O’Neill, his wife Cindy and Swim Across America-RI race director Kitty Tetreault were guests of Women and Infants at the event, which included some 450 attendees from across the state.
