BIG EAST Release

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

The BIG EAST announced yesterday afternoon that Providence College senior swimmer Mathew Card (Bow, N.H.) earned the BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Award for male Athlete of the Week for his efforts against Bryant University on Friday, November 13.

Card posted a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.30. The senior also took the title in the 100 yard butterfly (54.35). He combined with three teammates and swam the anchor leg of the 400 yard freestyle relay to win his fourth medal of the day. In the meet, Card earned 18 individual points and 15 points from the relay events.

Card and the rest of the Friars are back in the pool on Friday, December 4 as they take on some of the region's best institutions in the Harold Anderson Invitational held in Kingston, R.I.
