Swimming & Diving Set for Season Debut at New England Catholic Invitational

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving teams open their 2013-14 seasons on Friday, Oct. 18 at the New England Catholic Invitational at Boston College's Flynn Complex Aquatics Center. Last year, the women's team went 5-3 overall while the men's team went 3-3.

    MEN'S SWIMMING: The Providence College men's team will be anchored by seniors Ethan Brosnan (Westford, Mass.), Zach Mckeown (South Windsor, Conn.), John Nash (Long Beach, N.Y.), Kenny Savage (Basking Ridge, N.J.), and this season's men's captains Connor Lui (Monroe, Conn.) and Andrew St. Pierre (Fairhaven, Mass.). Junior John Fatigati(Mahwah, N.J.) hopes to make a big splash this year after posting impressive times and becoming the top point earner for the men's team last year.

    WOMEN'S SWIMMING: The women's team, which saw one of its top-two point leaders graduate in 2013, will be led by Meghan Condon (Stratford, Conn.), Samantha DeGroff (Berlin, Conn.), Jessica Havard (Atlantic Highlands, N.J.), Morgan Lee (Vernon, Conn.), and this season's captains Kathleen Degnan (Narragansett, R.I.), Kelly Hall (Morristown, N.J.), Kimberly Hall (Morristown, N.J.), and Jillian Mullany (Monroe, Conn.). Junior Leia Federiconi(Williamsville, N.Y.) returns as last season's top scorer.


     

     

    MEN'S DIVING: The men's diving team introduces freshman Jordan Frielingsdorf(Hauppauge, N.Y.) as its sole diver to the team. Jordan joins the team having broken Smithtown West high school diving record two times and earning second place in Suffolk County Championships.

    WOMEN'S DIVING: The women's diving team saw both of its BIG EAST Diving Qualifiers graduate last year. This year the team enters the season with one returning diver, sophomore Abby Garrahan (Sandwich, Mass.) and two rookie divers, Sarah Burrous(Methuen, Mass.) and Lauren Griffin (Coatesville, Pa.).

    MEN'S NEWCOMERS: The men's team adds eleven newcomers to the roster, including freshmen Cassidy Bastianelli (Newtown, Conn.), Zachary Begnaud (Natchitoches, La.), Brian Bodick (New Canaan, Conn.), William Dumais (East Lyme, Conn.), William Fierro Joyce (Pound Ridge, N.Y.), Sean Goralski (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), Kurt Grunder (Binghamton, N.Y.), Jonathan Mariner (Marion, Mass.), Michael Martinico (Nesconset, N.Y.), Matthew Wetmore (Wesport, Conn.), and Kyle McLaughlin(Warrington, Pa.), a graduate student who swam at the University of Delaware.

    WOMEN'S NEWCOMERS: The women's team adds seven freshmen to its roster, Katherine Ainley (Rehoboth, Mass.), Angela Caputo (Longmeadow, Mass.), Colleen Hartigan (Suffern, N.Y.), Jordan Jacobson (Westfield, Mass.), Mary McKenna (Wethersfield, Conn.), Kelly Quinn (Garden City, N.Y.) and Helen Smith(Belmont, Mass.).
