PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College Swimming and Diving Head Coach John O'Neill announced captains for the 2013-14 season on Thursday, September 26. Serving as captains for the women's team are seniors Kathleen Degnan (Narragansett, R.I.), Kelly Hall (Morristown, N.J.), Kimberly Hall (Morristown, N.J.), and Jill Mullany (Monroe, Conn.). Mullany is one of the Friars' top scorers in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events and is a school record holder in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relays. Kim is a top performer in the 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle events who also holds a school record in the 800 freestyle relay while Kelly competes in the butterfly and IM events for the Friars. Degnan is a leader for the Friars in the 100 and 200 backstroke as well as 100 butterfly events for the Friars, having qualified and competed in three Big East Championships in her events.
Captains of the men's team will be seniors Connor Lui (Monroe, Conn.) and Andrew St. Pierre (Fairhaven, Mass.). Lui is one of the team's most decorated sprinters as well as a school record holder in the 100 backstroke. St. Pierre is a top competitor for the Friars in the 200 IM, 100 and 200 breaststroke events. Both have qualified and competed in three BIG EAST Conference Championships in their events.
The Friars open their season at the New England Catholic Invitational at Boston College on Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19.
