The Providence College men's and women's swimming teams took part in the Ocean Water Challenge at Second Beach in Middletown, R.I. on Saturday, September 13. Over thirty Friar student-athletes joined local club and masters swimmers in the open mile swim to help raise funds for the Tuesday Night Athletic Foundation, a non-profit foundation which raises money to provide scholarships to deserving amateur athletes to participate in summer athletic programs and help pay expenses of aspiring amateur athletes participating in regional, national, and international sporting events, giving local athletes the opportunity to compete worldwide. The Friars' effort helped contribute over $1100.00 towards the event which included over 150 swimmers, including Rhode Island native and 2008 Olympic Team member Elizabeth Beisel.
