Friars' Swimming And Diving Teams Honored By CSCAA For Excellence In The Classroom

June 21, 2017

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving programs have each earned national recognition for excellence in the classroom. The College Swimming & Diving Coaches' Association (CSCAA) announced its honorees fro the 2017 Spring Semester Scholar All-America Award today [June 21]. Providence College was among the list of programs recognized on both the men's and women's sides.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade-point average of 3.00 or higher during the 2016 Fall Semester. Top teams were recognized for both large teams (more than 22 women or 21 men) and small.

This spring, the Friars' women's swimming and diving team posted the second-highest team grade-point average among each of the College's 19 varsity athletic programs (3.53). The men's swimming and diving team compiled a 3.18 team grade-point average.

The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving teams also earned CSCAA Scholar All-America recognition at the conclusion of the Fall semester, and have been a mainstay among the list of honorees on a consistent basis each year.
