PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced by the conference on Tuesday, Feb. 11 that Providence College junior John Fatigati (Mahwah, N.J.) earned the last BIG EAST Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor of the regular season.
This is Fatigati's third weekly honor of the season. As the Friars' leading scorer, Fatigati notched two individual victories and a second-place finish in the meet against Georgetown on Feb. 8. Fatigati took first in the 200y backstroke (1:55.79) and the 200y IM (1:57.56), outpacing the field by more than three seconds in both races. Fatigati went on to earn second place in the 100y backstroke, coming in .12 seconds behind Kurt Muehlheuser of Georgetown.
Forty Friars will compete in the upcoming BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships. The Championships will run from Wednesday, Feb. 19 through Saturday, Feb. 22. The events will be held at the Glouster County Institute of Technology in Sewell, N.J. starting at 10 a.m. each day.
